I’m Maisie – digital marketing apprentice and the newest addition to the MacMartin team. My time at Sixth Form made me realise how much I enjoyed marketing and the areas surrounding it so after I completed my A-Levels last year (being very aware that university wasn’t the route I wanted to take), I began searching for apprenticeships. Like a lot of people, I learn best on the job, which is why I love that I can earn money whilst being in a field I am able to grow in.
When I’m not at work, I usually spend my free time baking (channeling my inner Mary Berry) or travelling across the country visiting my student friends at university. I’ve also recently been trying to get fit, not too much success but it’s the thought that counts, right?
I’m working towards a level 3 qualification in digital marketing with 3AAA, so some days I have to attend training with other apprentices with similar jobs to mine; it’s great to hear about other peoples’ experiences and how they compare to mine.
Unlike my previous job where it was the same routine repeated daily, each day is different for me at MacMartin. Some days my focus is on one large task and others it’s lots of little jobs that need completing. As a digital marketing apprentice I do a bit of everything from scheduling client social media posts to designing logo concepts which is what makes the job so insightful.
The first month has been brilliant. After working for a large company for the past 3 years, the change to such an intimate setting has been ideal because I can ask for help whenever I need it. I love that I have the opportunity to learn something new every day from all different areas of digital marketing, all whilst receiving feedback from industry experts so I can continue to improve my work. I’ve always loved graphic design, so it comes as no surprise that I jump at any chance to help Claire with projects but rather unexpectedly, apparently, I’m quite good at writing blogs too.
