Blaby District Council came to us with a brief to develop an accessible website to promote the range of support services and grants they offer to Leicestershire residents. The website was to be a community based information site, designed to empower its users through knowledge of the service. One of the key objectives was to achieve WCAG AA standard. Upon launch, the site scored 99.8% compliance for level A, 99.0% compliance for level AA and 99.0% compliance for level AAA.
We worked with the John Taylor Teaching School Hub to develop their new website. This project involved UX research, website design and managing a multi-phase plan. The site was designed to be used as a central communication stool for the hub and launched within 3 months. Upon launch, it resulted in a 43% increase in website traffic and enabled them to hit their engagement target set by the Department for Education.
Before launching their new beach volleyball courts, the owners of Sprinks Farm reached out to us. The project included branding and web design, incorporating anime-style illustrations as a significant aspect of the design. The website functions as more than just a promotional platform; it streamlines their business operations, featuring an integrated court booking system and automated communications with customers.
Leek Auctions, facing the need to manage frequent auctions and consistent report publications, sought a website that would simplify their operations while enhancing the user experience. Their newly developed website features an auction calendar, filterable reports, and a digital entry form. The Leek Auctions team maintains all website content themselves, utilising user-friendly editors in the admin panel.
Mentor sought a website that would integrate with their internal systems, promote their extensive range of courses and also allow users to independently find the most suitable course for their needs. As a prominent national training provider, we concentrated on streamlining the user experience, ensuring easy access and clear identification of all necessary information.
There are several key factors we consider when working on a web design project:
The overall experience a user has whilst visiting a site, taking into account navigation, ease of use and clear instructions.
Working with typography, colours, images and other visual elements that are impactful and align with the brand’s identity.
We will optimise all content and build your site using our green website framework, minimising the carbon footprint of your site.
The images and words that are published on the site. Copy should be well-written, engaging, easy to understand and optimised for SEO.
With the increasing use of mobile devices, it’s essential to ensure that a website works well across a range of screen sizes.
Ensuring that all users, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, can effectively access and interact with web content.
WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) that powers more than 40% of all websites on the internet. It’s a versatile platform that allows users to create websites of all sizes and complexities, from simple blogs to e-commerce sites and enterprise-level applications.
We will decide how we’re going to achieve the goals defined in the research phase and will map out the structure of your site, taking into account user experience. Your existing site map will be taken into consideration and where we propose new urls are used we will put redirection rules in place to ensure there is no loss of traffic.
We will then map out how your site is going to look, function and respond to different devices. At this point we’ll send over a design concept and site map, once these are approved, we will create a sample of wire frames for sign off.
Once it’s been checked and approved your website will go live to the world. We’ll then carry out post-launch checks and link to Google My Business and Google Analytics. We’re always on hand if you need help maintaining or updating your website, check out our hosting and maintenance service.
We use WordPress for all of our website design projects as it is easy to use, search engine friendly, responsive and scalable. It is also an open source platform meaning there are no license fees and any developer can work on the site in the future.
A specialist WordPress web design agency can ensure the site is built using best practise and efficient coding; we can ensure your site not only looks good, but also performs well. As we build the site, each page will be optimised for search engines and we will link your analytics and search console accounts. We can also create templates and provide training to enable you to manage your content updates in-house post launch.
The project timeframe will vary depending upon the size of the website and our capacity. On average our website design projects take between 8 and 16 weeks from start to launch. We will agree a schedule at the beginning of the project which will include key milestone and deadlines. Check-in meetings will be booked in throughout the project and your project manager will be available any time in between to answer your questions.
The cost to build a website will vary depending on the size and complexity of the website, the technologies used, and the design elements implemented. Our pricing starts from around £3,000 for a simple small website and from £8,000 for more complex sites. We’d recommend you get in touch with us to discuss your project and to get an estimation of cost.
